Family fun day at Gorey garda station
Gorey Garda Station is getting ready to hold its first family fun day next month.
The fun afternoon on Sunday, October 8, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. will take place inside and behind the station and in the adjoining car park.
The day will give the public a chance to learn about the different aspects of An Garda Síochána organisation. The Garda Air Support Unit helicopter will land in Gorey Town Park, while the Garda Band will be playing at the Station. The Garda Under Water, Mounted, and Dog units will also be present on the day.
Recent recruits will be on hand to give information on how to join the gardaí, while Gorey’s new Junior Liaison Officer Garda Paul Buckley will also be present on the day. Tours of the station will also be offered.
Games such as wet sponge throwing will add to the fun, and a raffle will be held. All proceeds go to local charities including Gorey Cardiac First Responders, YOLOS (Youth Opportunities Local Outcomes Service), and Talk to Tom.
