Fam­ily fun day at Gorey garda sta­tion

Gorey Garda Sta­tion is get­ting ready to hold its first fam­ily fun day next month.

The fun af­ter­noon on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 8, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. will take place in­side and be­hind the sta­tion and in the ad­join­ing car park.

The day will give the public a chance to learn about the dif­fer­ent as­pects of An Garda Síochána or­gan­i­sa­tion. The Garda Air Sup­port Unit he­li­copter will land in Gorey Town Park, while the Garda Band will be play­ing at the Sta­tion. The Garda Un­der Wa­ter, Mounted, and Dog units will also be present on the day.

Re­cent re­cruits will be on hand to give in­for­ma­tion on how to join the gar­daí, while Gorey’s new Ju­nior Li­ai­son Of­fi­cer Garda Paul Buck­ley will also be present on the day. Tours of the sta­tion will also be of­fered.

Games such as wet sponge throw­ing will add to the fun, and a raf­fle will be held. All pro­ceeds go to lo­cal char­i­ties in­clud­ing Gorey Car­diac First Re­spon­ders, YOLOS (Youth Op­por­tu­ni­ties Lo­cal Out­comes Ser­vice), and Talk to Tom.
