Cannabis worth €40,000 seized in Ballyfad house
Cannabis herb worth an estimated €40,000 was seized during a raid of a house in Ballyfad last week.
Gorey gardai, assisted by the detective branch and the garda dog unit, searched the house on Friday evening at around 7.30 p.m. in what was described as ‘an intelligence led operation.’
A man in his thirties was arrested during the operation and brought to Gorey Garda Station for questioning.
He was later released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
This was the second drugs seizure last week. On Tuesday, up to €1,000 worth of cannabis was seized in a vehicle in Gorey. A man was arrested and later released. A file is going to the DPP.
In other garda news, around €1,000 worth of fireworks were seized in a search of a house in Courtown last Thursday. A variety of fireworks were found in the haul. Gardaí remind the public that fireworks are dangerous, and they are also illegal. They will be cracking down on sale or possession of fireworks in the coming weeks.
