New initiative to help North Wexford get fit

Gorey Guardian - - NEWS -

Wexford County Council is calling on businesses to submit ideas for a new health and well-being initiative in North Wexford called Freedom Fit, which will take place during the schools mid-term break next February.

Gorey district manager Amanda Byrne explained that the event will be held from February 9 10 18, so any visitors in the area can get involved in the activities during their stay here. The programme will boast a range of activities and challenges, including workouts, dancing, walking, running, children’s events, massages, healthy eating and food demonstrations.

The initiative comes from the North Wexford Tourism Steering Group, which is made up of local tourism operators and is chaired by general manager of Ashdown Park Hotel, Paul Finegan.

The organisers say the activities can be linked to other attractions in the area, so businesses that are not directly involved can also benefit.

For further information or to propose an event on behalf of a business, email in details by Friday, November 17 to liz. stanley@wexford

The draft programme will be revealed on Wednesday, November 22, at 8.30 a.m., in the Ashdown Park Hotel.
