Gorey man in custody on 16 additional charges

Gorey Guardian - - NEWS -

SIXTEEN charges were outstanding against Thomas Hendy (25) of 30 Riverchapel Court, Gorey when he was brought before Judge John Cheatle at the new Wexford Town courthouse.

The list included counts of theft, criminal damage, trespass and public order matters.

Solicitor John O’Donovan told the District Court that his client was already in custody serving a sentence in the Midlands Prison.

He was doing well in jail, reported Mr O’Donovan, and he was due for release in April.

Sergeant Gary Rayner pointed out that all the matters on the court list had been previously dealt with by Judge Gerard Haughton and it was agreed that he should be the one to finalise the pending matters.

Mr O’Donovan indicated that he would not be available to appear before Judge Gerard Haughton if the matter was adjourned to February 19.

Instead, all charges were put back to the District Court sitting in Gorey on February 21.

The solicitor requested a prison governor’s report and urinalysis read-out to be available on that date.
