Death of builder PJ McMahon

Gorey Guardian - - NEWS -

THE death has taken place of well-known Wexford builder provider PJ McMahon.

Mr McMahon, from Ard Aoibhinn, Rosslare Strand, died on Sunday.

He was 79 and had been retired from his Trinity Street business for some years.

He was born in Clare and moved to Wexford with his wife Moira and six children in 1970, initially working as the manager in McCormack’s Builders’ Providers before opening his own business.

Described as both a proud Wexford man and a proud Clare man, PJ was a passionate golfer and was captain at Wexford Golf Club and a prominent member of the Rosslare Golf Club.

‘Golf was his passion along with his family,’ said PJ’s youngster daughter Catherine.

He worked for many years with St Vincent de Paul.

The beloved husband of the late Moira and loving father of Eugene, Anne, Kevin, Deirdre, Eamon, and Catherine; brother of Joe, Jim, Michael, Bernadette, Vera, Angela, Kathleen, Margaret and the late Eugene, he is sadly missed by his family, sons in law, daughters in law, brothers in law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

PJ’s funeral mass will take place at 12 noon tomorrow (Wednesday) at St Brigid’s Church, Rosslare Strand, followed by burial in The New Cemetery Tagoat.
