Creagh’s Sam en­joys trip to EU Par­lia­ment

CREAGH COL­LEGE Gorey Tran­si­tion Year stu­dent Sam Walsh has just re­turned from an in­for­ma­tive trip to the European Par­lia­ment in Brus­sels.

He wrote an es­say last month ti­tled ‘Why the EU is Im­por­tant to Me’ and was cho­sen, along with nine other stu­dents from the south of the coun­try, to visit the par­lia­ment in the Bel­gian cap­i­tal.

The stu­dents got to meet Fine Gael MEPs Sean Kelly and Mairead McGuin­ness dur­ing the trip, which was hosted by the European Peo­ple’s Party.

The stu­dents also met with EU Com­mis­sioner Phil Ho­gan just hours af­ter he had con­cluded his lat­est round of Brexit ne­go­ti­a­tions.

Sam said his group got to visit the Par­lia­ment cham­ber as well as the European House of His­tory mu­seum.

The stu­dents also en­joyed tours of Bruges and Ghent.
