Good Food Ireland is set for global forum

-

A WEXFORD-based food networking company is hosting a global forum on Food, Tourism and Culture in Galway in April.

‘touRRoir’ is a cross sector event that is organised by Good Food Ireland, which is headed up by local businesswoman Margaret Jeffares. The event will see three Wexford members of Good Food Ireland taking part, including: Wexford Home

Preserves, Ballycross Apple

Farm and Killowen Farm

Yogurt.

Other businesses and organisations across the county are encouraged to get involved alongside international ground-breaking leaders in food, tourism and cultural sectors.

Margaret Jeffares, Founder and Managing Director of Good Food Ireland said:

‘Food, tourism and culture represent giant ‘industries’ in their own right and, combined, account for the lion’s share of global employment, while their cross-sector effect on businesses and communi- ties, and their economies and social fabric, is hugely significant.’

She added that conumsers sought authenticity and truth in terms of product, service and experience, pointing out that: ‘The quest for authenticity combined with a growing awareness of our increasingly fragile physical and socio-political environments and increasing concern of the long term effects of technology disruption is raising major policy questions at the highest levels particularly in these three major economic sectors – Food, Tourism and Culture.’

The event was launched by TG4 weather girl Cáitlín Nic Aoidh. It takes place on April 23 and 24 in NUI Galway.
