SNOW STORM

The local community extend a very sincere thanks to all the farmers, local contractors, and many others who provided tractors and other mechanical loaders and help to clear most of the roads in the Coolgreany, Inch and Ballyfad areas.

There was a great sense of community spirit shown to help get people on the move again, on some of those roads there was up to 10 feet high drifts which had to be removed to gain access to some homes, Coolgreany Street was particularly bad, and again was completely cleared in a short time on Saturday and Sunday. It proves once again if there is good will towards your neighbour, and a good community spirit, a lot can be achieved in a very short time. May this community spirit live long in our community after this storm has completely gone. Thanks again to everyone involved for their great efforts.

BIRTHDAYS

Birthday greetings to Bobby Hughes, Ballylacey, who celebrated his sixth birthday on February 27, also Florrie Hughes Ballylacey, whose birthday was last week; also their cousin Sophie, whose bth birthday was on March 7; and happy birthday to Saoirse Hughes, Boleybaun, whose birthday was on March 8; birthday greetings to Charley Rose Kelly Main Street, who celebrated her first birthday last Thursday, March 8, also Tara Malone, whose fourth birthday was last Saturday.

STORM DAMAGE

During the past snow storm which created havoc in our area which hit many a farm yard in our locality, where many farm buildings collapsed under the weight of the large amount of snow thereon, in some cases animals succumbed to the huge weight and died, and sympathy must be extended to all those who suffered in so many ways.
