Great tast­ing steak din­ner raises more than €18,000

The Am­ber Springs Ho­tel was filled with great smells on Satur­day evening for the North Wex­ford Hospice Nurs­ing Trust an­nual fundrais­ing bar­be­cue.

The bar­be­cue at­tracted a to­tal of 375 peo­ple, all who do­nated and man­aged to raise over €18,000 for the Nurs­ing Trust. It was hailed as one of the best in its 27 years.

The par­tic­i­pants en­joyed a de­li­cious steak sup­per, fol­lowed by great mu­si­cal en­ter­tain­ment from singer Tina Carter and band Theresa and The Stars.

North Wex­ford Hospice Nurs­ing Trust trea­surer Noe­lene Fur­long said it was a great evening and they were blessed with the weather. ‘We would like to thank The Am­ber Springs, chefs, vol­un­teers, nurses, spon­sors and par­tic­i­pants,’ added Noe­lene.

The much-an­tic­i­pated event is held ev­ery year in The Am­ber Springs Ho­tel and is one of North Wex­ford Hospice Trust big­gest fundrais­ers.

The Na­tional Cof­fee Morn­ing in Septem­ber is the other ma­jor fundraiser that gen­er­ates much-needed funds for the char­ity.

County Wex­ford Hospice Home­care Team Ltd was set up in 1990, due to a need for the pro­vi­sion of home-based pal­lia­tive care ser­vice. North Wex­ford Hospice Nurs­ing Trust, along with sim­i­lar groups in En­nis­cor­thy, New Ross, Wex­ford town and Bun­clody, were set up as fund rais­ing groups to help main­tain and the ser­vice.
