More than 18,000 on learner permits
THERE are currently 18,225 learner permit drivers in Wexford.
Online insurance broker Insuremycars.ie who sourced the figures have called on the Government to address the problem saying that legacy issues mean that over 65,000 drivers nationwide on their third learner permit.
The figures reveal that Ireland’s youngest drivers on learner permits are in fact the best at fulfilling their driving responsibilities, by taking lessons and passing their test in a timely manner.
However some motorists over 30 are on their 5th, 6th, or even 10th learner driver permit and statistics from the RSA show that there are 18,225 learner drivers in Wexford alone. Recent reports highlighted the lengthy delays driving test wait times across the country with some people waiting up to 25 weeks to sit their test.
