Gorey District Hospital fun run during Market House Festival
This year’s Gorey Market House Festival includes a family friendly Superhero Fun Run, which has been organised on the August Bank Holiday Sunday to raise funds for the Friends of Gorey District Hospital.
Participants are encouraged to be a hero for the hospital and come dressed as their favourite superhero. However ordinary mortals and heroes in civilian disguise are also welcome to take part. Villains will also be given a special pass for the day to allow them to take part.
The event takes place on Sunday, August 5, and all are asked to assemble at Gorey’s Main Street at 2.30 p.m. Spectators are most welcome.
The heroes can run, walk, push a buggy, or even walk their superhero dog along the child friendly 2km route which takes in a loop of Gorey Town Park, starting and finishing at Main Street.
Entry is by donation but participants can purchase a Superhero Pack for €10, which includes a cape, mask, a voucher for face painting, and goodies.
Adults can purchase a specially designed Market House Festival t-shirt for €10. Proceeds go to the Friends of Gorey District Hospital.
Sunday afternoon’s activities also include music on the Main Street stage, a street market and food stalls, face painting, and much more, so it should be a fun day out for all.
Music on Sunday begins earlier in the day, with a strong local element among the acts on stage for the Market House Festival.
