Best of luck to John Doyle representing Ireland at Special Olympic World Games
More than 70 Special Olympics Club Gorey Area members gathered in the Loch Garman Arms on Sunday to celebrate John Doyle’s huge success.
John will represent Ireland in badminton at the Special Olympic World Games in March 2019 in Abu Dhabi. He is one of three county Wexford natives travelling to compete in the prestigious games.
Roisin Duncan, PRO for SOCGA, said John is over the moon to be representing his country in the World Games.
‘The Club presented John with a hamper full of goodies and a new badminton racket,’ said Roisin. ‘He danced the night away with his fellow club members and athletes.’
Music was provided by Stephen Sutton and The Loch Garman Arms served food for all the guests.
‘It was an absolutely brilliant night. Believe it or not, John loved the Irish flag the most out of what we gave him,’ added Roisin.
The SOCGA also made a presentation to the seven athletes who competed in the Special Olympics Ireland games this year. They included Brendan Carroll, John Doyle, Liz McCarthy, Ann Kennedy, Joseph Moffett, Declan Dwyer and Lily Devereux.
‘We got a head and shoulders picture of them framed to hang up,’ said Roisin. ‘They were delighted with it.’
