Suspended sentence for motorist
A SUSPENDED jail sentence was handed down in the District Court to Helen Dundon with an address in The Elms, Park Avenue, Gorey for a motor insurance offence.
The court was told that the 30-year-old mother of seven was a repeat offender and that she had already been disqualified from driving by a judge in Dublin.
‘She knows she is facing a jail sentence,’ said solicitor David Tarrant, who suggested that his client had learned her lesson.
Judge Gerard Haughton set a term of five months imprisonment but decided to suspend the sentence, binding Ms Dundon to the peace for two years.
She was banned from driving for six years.
