Accused ‘not the brightest’

-

Danielle Kelly, 49 Slí na Sláine, Enniscorthy, was summonsed on the double for not having her motor tax in order.

The 30-year-old was not present at the District Court sitting in Wexford to hear the evidence of two gardaí.

First into the witness box was Garda Paul Quirke who was on duty at Weafer Street on the morning of September 10 last. He noted that the tax on Ms Kelly’s 2005 Wexford registered vehicle appeared to have expired in March.

Next to give testimony was Garda Cristian Dorneanu who was on duty the following afternoon in Nunnery Road.

He met Ms Kelly at a checkpoint where he noted that the same 2005 Wexford registered car was still bearing a tax disc out since the previous March.

‘Obviously not the brightest crayon in the box,’ commented Judge Brian O’Shea before he handed down two fines of €160 each.
