Tributes have been pouring in to West Belfast singer-songwriter Bap Kennedy who died last week from pancreatic cancer.

“This is such sad news,” rues Mark Knopfler who produced Bap’s 2012 album, The Sailor’s Revenge. “He was an extremely talented and committed songwriter who applied himself to his craft at all times. I have nothing but happy memories of our days and nights in the studio and out on the road.”

““Bap was loved by both fans and musicians in equal measure. Van’s thoughts are with Brenda, and the family, at this very sad time,” says a spokesperson for The Man.

Malojian, AKA Lurgan troubadour Steve Scullion, reflects: “I first met Bap when he came along to The Deer’s Cry album launch many moons ago. I couldn’t believe it and was totally star struck. I feel lucky and privileged to have been able to open for Bap and his band a couple of times since then. Any time I met him he was a really lovely guy, funny, super cool and hugely supportive. RIP.”
