As part of the Be Kreativ ini­tia­tive from Beck’s – long­stand­ing cham­pi­ons of artis­tic cre­ativ­ity world­wide – Hot Press is fo­cus­ing on some of the best and bright­est con­tem­po­rary mu­sic acts in the coun­try. The art scene in Ire­land has never been more vi­brant – and mu­sic is at the heart of it all. In this spe­cial se­ries, the aim is to show­case the bands that epit­o­mise the ex­cit­ing fu­ture po­ten­tial of the scene – and to bring some suit­ably out­side-the-box vis­ual ideas to the ta­ble in the process. The lat­est in­stal­ment sees one of the coun­try’s most ex­cit­ing young groups, Lim­er­ick hip hop trio Ru­sangano Fam­ily, step in front of the lens. Hav­ing sup­ported heavy­weights such as Run The Jew­els, Young Fathers and Snoop Dogg, earlier this year the boys un­leashed their bril­liant de­but al­bum Let The Dead Bury The Dead, which re­ceived wide­spread crit­i­cal ac­claim. The group have kept up a busy tour­ing sched­ule since, and be­fore the end of the year, they will be play­ing dates at Whe­lan’s in Dublin (Novem­ber 26), Galway’s Roisin Dubh (De­cem­ber 8), The Kino, Cork (9) and Dolan’s, Lim­er­ick (20). We in­vited them to get in touch with their kreativ side in a spe­cial shoot with Hot Press pho­tog­ra­pher Kathrin Baumbach – and the re­sults were suit­ably im­pres­sive…
