Bill Graham wrote for Hot Press, from its inception in 1977 until his death in 1996. A graduate of Trinity College, Bill was one of the main journalistic forces in the early days of the magazine. He possessed a keen intellect and an abiding passion for all genres of music. He was also a key mentor and advisor to the young U2. Most crucially, he introduced them to the man who became their manager, Paul McGuinness. Bill wrote the story of U2’s early years in the book, Another Time Another Place. In this issue, we reprint his wonderfully compelling review of The Joshua Tree, in all its original glory.
