Vinci are five mates from Dublin who found themselves broke and on the verge of giving up music – before deciding to pool resources to pursue their passion.

“We had all been in other bands that fell apart around the same time,” reflects lead vocalist Kurtis. “But we just decided to get into the rehearsal room – it made the most sense in the world.”

In the two years they’ve been together, Vinci have managed to release three critically acclaimed singles and sell out numerous venues across Dublin. For good measure, they’ve also performed for President Michael D Higgins and played shows in London and LA.

Meanwhile, after supporting Aslan in the Iveagh Gardens this summer, the lads jetted off to LA to showcase their music in the Mint venue. This landed them the opportunity to be the first unsigned band to play the Oscar Wilde awards – the event held during Oscar season to celebrate Irish achievements in film.

“It was like that moment that you hear about other bands having,” notes Kurtis. “You want it to happen to you, but you always have your doubts. Then it happened – and that was special.”

What are the group’s upcoming plans? “We’re working on stuff at the moment,” explains Kurtis, “and we hope to announce some news shortly.”

We’re eagerly looking forward to it.

Vinci support Aslan in Vicar Street, Dublin on December 30.
