Breakfast is most definitely my favourite meal of the day.
Growing up, I was always told never to leave the house without a good breakfast and I still stick to this rule. If I’m starting my day exceptionally early, I usually grab a shake or smoothie to take with me on the go, or overnight I will prepare chocolate and banana protein oats or boil some eggs the day before to smash on rye toast with avocado when I get to work. My breakfasts often include oats – remember to use the gluten-free variety if you are intolerant to gluten. In the summer I crave cold, fresh breakfasts such as smoothie bowls and bircher muesli; in the colder months, a warm bowl of baked banana and chia spiced oatmeal (for the recipes, see my book). For something savoury, sweet potato and chorizo hash with baked eggs (opposite) is always a good idea!
