HIGH-IN­TEN­SITY IN­TER­VAL TRAIN­ING is a method that in­volves al­ter­nate pe­ri­ods of push­ing your body to its limit (hence ‘high in­ten­sity’) with pe­ri­ods of rest or lower-in­ten­sity ex­er­cise, such as walk­ing. HIIT can be done purely us­ing your own body­weight or you can mix it with ket­tle­bells, sand­bags or dumb­bells. Ide­ally, com­bine HIIT with low-in­ten­sity steady-state car­dio and strength train­ing to in­crease mus­cle mass and re­duce body fat.
