IN THIS ISSUE
It’s a controversial view in this day and age, I know, but I’m pretty sure I could never, ever survive life as a vegan. An increasing number of you are adopting it as a lifestyle choice, and I respect and salute that. But I’m not sure it’s the choice for me. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have to have slabs of meat on my plate at every meal, but the extremism of veganism has just never appealed to me – not least because eggs are one of my favourite foods. I’m the omelette queen – I mean, how can you whip up something quick and easy after a long day at the office without eggs? Step in the Bosh! boys, Henry Firth and Ian Theasby (above), whose amazing vegan recipes on page 42 show that not only is veganism healthy, it can be tasty too. Their videos are great to watch as well – and not just because they’re so easy on the eye! Like it or not, reducing meat consumption is becoming a real life-or-death issue for our planet, so with recipes featuring chilli, banana bread, and mac and greens, I’ll definitely be giving them a go. And who knows, maybe I’ll be a convert. Another trend I can convert to – perhaps more easily – is buying cheaper beauty products. ‘You get what you pay for’ is not necessarily true when it comes to many serums, creams and makeup, and on page 30, we test products from high-end to budget to let you know which ones you need to splurge on and where you can save your pennies. The weather is finally, finally, finally taking a turn for the better so it really is time to look towards spring/summer fashion. To that end, we’ve gone dotty for pretty polka, power flats and a suits-all Marks & Spencer tiered top, €35 sleeve skirt on page 10, while on page 40, we paper waist with €38 ruffle shorts bag hem, bring you the best of the V By Very collection at Littlewoods Ireland. Right, that’s it, I’m off to the shops!
