It’s a con­tro­ver­sial view in this day and age, I know, but I’m pretty sure I could never, ever sur­vive life as a ve­gan. An in­creas­ing num­ber of you are adopt­ing it as a life­style choice, and I re­spect and salute that. But I’m not sure it’s the choice for me. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have to have slabs of meat on my plate at ev­ery meal, but the ex­trem­ism of ve­gan­ism has just never ap­pealed to me – not least be­cause eggs are one of my favourite foods. I’m the omelette queen – I mean, how can you whip up some­thing quick and easy af­ter a long day at the of­fice with­out eggs? Step in the Bosh! boys, Henry Firth and Ian Theasby (above), whose amaz­ing ve­gan recipes on page 42 show that not only is ve­gan­ism healthy, it can be tasty too. Their videos are great to watch as well – and not just be­cause they’re so easy on the eye! Like it or not, re­duc­ing meat con­sump­tion is be­com­ing a real life-or-death is­sue for our planet, so with recipes fea­tur­ing chilli, ba­nana bread, and mac and greens, I’ll def­i­nitely be giv­ing them a go. And who knows, maybe I’ll be a con­vert. An­other trend I can con­vert to – per­haps more eas­ily – is buy­ing cheaper beauty prod­ucts. ‘You get what you pay for’ is not nec­es­sar­ily true when it comes to many serums, creams and makeup, and on page 30, we test prod­ucts from high-end to bud­get to let you know which ones you need to splurge on and where you can save your pen­nies. The weather is fi­nally, fi­nally, fi­nally tak­ing a turn for the bet­ter so it re­ally is time to look to­wards spring/sum­mer fash­ion.
