Grand­mother had €70k drug stash in home

A GRAND­MOTHER agreed to hold a suit­case con­tain­ing al­most €70,000 worth of cannabis, a court has heard.

Adri­anne Bradley, 53, told gar­daí she didn’t have a drink or drug prob­lem but ad­mit­ted that she smoked cannabis ‘ev­ery so of­ten’.

She said she hadn’t been given any money and was ex­pect­ing some­one to come back and col­lect the drugs.

Garda Alan Flaherty told Séa­mus Clarke BL, pros­e­cut­ing, that the drugs were found af­ter gar­daí got a war­rant to search her home fol­low­ing a tip-off. Garda Flaherty told Dean Kelly BL, de­fend­ing, that gar­daí were sat­is­fied that Bradley was vul­ner­a­ble and used by oth­ers.

The seven bags of cannabis were dis­cov­ered in a suit­case, locked within a sec­ond suit­case, the court heard. Bradley, of Moat­e­view Close, Darn­dale, Dublin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Cir­cuit Crim­i­nal Court to hav­ing €68,154 worth of cannabis for sale or sup­ply on Au­gust 11, 2015.

Judge Karen O’Connor or­dered a pro­ba­tion re­port and re­manded Bradley on con­tin­u­ing bail for sen­tenc­ing to Oc­to­ber 20.
