Out a fantasy as Game of Thrones star
HE is a Grammy-award winning superstar who who has just sold out a string of giant shows across Ireland.
So fans of Ed Sheeran may be confused to see him acting on TV, wearing full battle armour. But the 26-year-old singer, who is worth more than £50million, made a cameo appearance in the latest episode of Game of Thrones.
The star sings and speaks briefly, in the first episode of the seventh series of the hit US fantasy show, which aired on Sky Atlantic last night. His character, who is not named, is seen singing around a campfire in the forest.
When Arya Stark, played by 20-year-old Maisie Williams, rides past on horseback, she tells him: ‘It’s a pretty song, I’ve never heard it before.’ Ed replies: ‘It’s a new one.’ One of the show’s creators David Benioff said: ‘We tried to get Ed on to surprise Maisie [who is a big fan of his], and this year we finally did it.’
