BOTH in Ireland and the UK we get through millions of cups of tea every day. To keep up with demand, the Typhoo factory in Merseyside churns out 14million tea bags every 24 hours. To begin a new, eyeopening series exploring the origins of one of our favourite products, Gregg Wallace and Cherry Healey (pictured right) visit the factory and trace the journey made by tea – some 6,500 kilometres from plantation to cup – while Ruth Goodman reveals some surprising facts about its history. But what we really want to know is – why is Gregg wearing a hairnet?
