Hillary still doesn’t know what happened

MEMOIR OF THE WEEK:

WHAT Happened is the title of Hillary Clinton’s new memoir of the 2016 US Presidential campaign, and I can’t help feeling that, like Finnegans Wake, it’s missing some punctuation – in this case, a question mark. Because Hillary, pictured, sounds like she’s still as bewildered as she was on election night. It was a defeat she never saw coming, so much so that she had no concession speech ready. Her team had to draft one that struck the right note between steel and grace while she had a ‘weirdly ordinary’ phone call with the man who’d been leading chants of ‘lock her up’. What Happened, indeed.

REASON OF THE WEEK:

EXPLAINING why they chose very ordinary names for their twins Alex and Ella, George Clooney said he and wife Amal figured their celebrity would attract enough attention without the burden of ‘ridiculous Hollywood names’. ‘They’re going to be looked at a lot, and have their every move judged,’ said the former ER star. Sorry, George, but I think it’s the ‘Clooney’ bit of their names that’s going to cause them problems.
