LOUISE Redknapp has broken her silence on a rumoured split from footballer husband Jamie, saying they were going through ‘hard times’. The singer, 42, said the couple, above, were throwing their energy into protecting their children.

She did not deny speculation that their 19-year marriage has collapsed, though she was still wearing her wedding ring yesterday. Responding to questions about her marriage on ITV’s This Morning, she said: ‘It’s been heavily documented and of course we all go through hard times. My priority, and his priority, are our children – protecting them and loving them and putting them first. That’s really what we are focusing on.’

She and Sky Sports pundit Redknapp, 44, have two sons, Charley, 12, and Beau, nine. After what she described as ‘12 years at home doing the mum thing’, Miss Redknapp finished runnerup with Kevin Clifton in the last series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Eternal singer has relaunched her music career and is in a London musical.
