Most excellent! Orlando’s thrills for Halloween

Irish Daily Mail - - Travel - BY JIM MURTY

IT’S hard to know where you are at this time of the year, with the changing seasons and the countdown to all our big festivities... Halloween, Black Friday, Christmas. I’m in the Maldives.

Back home, Daddy’s Little Girl is getting ready for spookin’. Being a Potterhead, it’s always been an ambition of hers to go to Orlando, while she spends many a night with her friends creeping herself out to horror films.

Nobody does Halloween better than the Americans and Universal Orlando Resort has garnered plaudits for its shows. This year, it is showcasing its Festival of the Deadliest, with nine haunted houses and five scare zones.

Get ready to be scared witless as Orlando channels American Horror Story, Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, Saw: The Games of Jigsaw, Ash vs Evil Dead and The Horrors Of Blumhouse.

Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights will also feature two live shows.

This year, Academy of Villains returns for a second consecutive year with an all-new show, Academy Of Villains: Afterlife.

Plus, after 26 years of Excellent Halloween Adventures, Bill and Ted are bringing their Farewell Tour to Halloween Horror Nights to review this year’s most outrageous moments.

The scares will last through to November 4 and thrill-seekers can experience the usual theme-park highlights by day and terrifying horror-film chills by night at Halloween Horror Nights.

Weekend Travel has been over for the horrorthon and will tell you all about it in the coming weeks.

But no, you won’t be hearing from your diarist, who went as white as a ghost on the Hulk ride a couple of years ago.

No, we have an Orlando and thrill-seeking specialist for you... the ghouls and the ghosts are afraid of him!
