÷NO disrespect to anyone involved in The Pat Kenny Show’s rural special last Wednesday, but there was a distinct undercurrent of the same old anti-Dublin bitching that we have been hearing for years. Frankly, I lost the will to live quite early on in the proceedings. The most interesting thing about it all was the fact that Pat’s tie was askew for the duration. ÷I’M guessing that most people reading this weren’t actually up in time to see Death On The Nile on ITV3 at 7.10am today. Nor, I can say in advance and with some certainty, was I. But it did remind men that a remake of another Agatha Christie classic, Murder On The Orient Express, starring Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer among others, will be out soon. ÷FAREWELL to the great Liz Dawn, pictured, whose role as the gossipy and acerbic Vera Duckworth was a highlight of Coronation Street for decades. Her fractious rapport with screen husband Jack was up there with the show’s two other great double acts. One was Stan and Hilda Ogden; the other involved those two spectacularly narky drinking buddies, Albert Tatlock and Ena Sharples.
