19 migrants die in Libya crash
AT LEAST 19 illegal migrants have been killed in a lorry crash near the Libyan town of Bani Walid, about 180km southeast of the capital Tripoli.
The chief of Bani Walid hospital, Mohamed el-Mabruk, said 60 others were injured when the vehicle overturned early yesterday.
He said more than 200 migrants, mostly from Eritrea, Somalia and Sudan, were on board. The cause of the crash was not clear. Libya has become a major transit point for migrants from across Africa and the Middle East hoping to reach Europe.
