WHO’S TELLING WHOPPERS!

Kate Moss says she first had sex at 14. So how does that compare with other stars? And which of their confessions are virgin on the unbelievable . . .

SEAN CONNERY — eight

THE Bond actor, now 87, confessed to an interviewer that he was only eight years old when he had sex, although he could not remember anything else about it. He told For Women magazine: ‘I can’t recall how it happened or with whom — I only know I did. I have always loved women — blonde, brunette but preferably foreign. They’re more attractive than British and American women.’

He added that he wasn’t successful with women until he was 20. ‘I paid 15 shillings a week to join a weightlifting club. I started lifting weights, not so much to be fitter but to look good for girls.’

GEORGE HAMILTON — 12

FILM star ‘Gorgeous’ George has a reputation as a ladykiller, and has told interviewers that his first sexual experiences came in 1951 when he was only 12. Shockingly, the woman in question was his stepmother, singer June Howard. He said: ‘June was a sexy lioness, the sort of woman whose pelvis met you half an hour before the rest of her.

‘One rainy day while staying with them in their New York apartment, I was lying on a day-bed. Dad was out. June, in an ice-blue diaphanous dressing gown, came over to join me. She lay down and mentioned something about “cuddling”.

‘What followed was as natural as the birds and bees neither of my parents had got around to telling me about.’

JOHNNY DEPP — 13

THE Pirates Of The Caribbean star said he was only 13 when he lost his virginity — on the back seat of a car. At the time he was a guitarist in a band called Flame, and the girl was a fan.

He, of course, also went on to date Kate Moss, who recently admitted she was only a year older when she lost hers.

ANGELINA JOLIE — 14

THE actress and humanitarian has said she was 14 when she lost her virginity: ‘I had started having sex with my boyfriend, and the sex and the emotions didn’t feel enough. I was no longer a little girl.

‘In a moment of wanting to feel closer to my boyfriend, I grabbed a knife and cut him. He cut me back. We had an exchange of something and we were covered in blood, my heart was racing.’

In that same interview she claimed that she was sexually active in primary school, saying she took her clothes off and ‘made out’ with boys.

DAVID NIVEN — 14

THE late Hollywood star claimed in his celebrated memoir The Moon’s A Balloon that he lost his virginity aged 14 to Nessie, a 17-year-old Soho prostitute with lovely legs and blue eyes, while Yes We Have No Bananas played on the gramophone.

As he told it, she did not charge him for sex because she felt sorry for him, and even visited him at Stowe public school, where they had sex again on a tartan picnic rug in the school grounds and she was introduced to the headmaster, who declared her charming.

Some contemporaries suggested that she never existed and that his story was concocted from memories of several prostitutes he had encountered as a teenager.

CHERYL COLE — 15

THE X Factor judge says she has never had a one-night-stand, and that she was 15 when she lost her virginity to a long-term boyfriend from Newcastle.

She said: ‘I made my boyfriend wait three months, so I am really proud of myself for that. The thought of being intimate with someone you don’t know really freaks me out. I think men should earn that intimacy.’

PRUE LEITH — 15

GREAT British Bake Off judge Prue, 77, had a wild youth which involved an orgy, drugs and an abortion. She lost her virginity aged 15 and said in her autobiography that her parents caught her kissing a married father of two as a teenager. When living in Paris she had an illegal backstreet abortion.

She went on to have a 13-year affair with Rayne Kruger, husband of her mother’s best friend, who she eventually married.

FRANCIS ROSSI — 15

STATUS Quo rocker Rossi was 15 when he first made love, in the countryside with his girlfriend, Susan Small.

He said: ‘We were in a field in Shoreham, Sussex. It was a hot, sweaty day and my knees were shaking. Afterwards I felt marvellous because it was the first time I had felt at one with someone.’

He added: ‘Nowadays, though, I think 15 is too young. If the age of consent was 18 or 20, it might take pressure off young people, and you’d still have 40 or 50 years of lovemaking left.’

LIZ TAYLOR — 15

NATIONAL Velvet made Liz Taylor a star aged 12, but by the time she was 14 she was involved with her co-star in that film, Mickey Rooney — with his wife apparently catching her performing a sex act on him.

When she was 15, she reputedly lost her virginity to actor Peter Lawford, on whom she had a crush, in the back of a limousine.

Flings with Ronald Reagan, Errol Flynn and John F. Kennedy followed. In an interview years later, she said: ‘I wanted to be a woman ... I flaunted an hourglass figure at a stage when most young girls were still developing.’

At night, she would lie awake practising French kissing on her satin pillows.

DUSTIN HOFFMAN — 15

THE Graduate star claimed he slept with a much older woman at a New Year’s Eve party because he had convinced her he was actually his older brother, Ronny. She called a halt to the encounter when she realised her mistake.

MICHAEL DOUGLAS — 16

WALL Street star Douglas told Elle magazine that he lost his virginity to two of his mother’s friends simultaneously at 16.

He said: ‘I remember one woman who’d been pursuing me, and I’d gone back home and was in bed with another lady. At an unbelievably inopportune moment, [the first woman] popped out of the closet. Let’s just say that took care of the rest of the night.’

He went on: ‘I was 16, they were 30, friends of my mother’s.’

PAULA HAMILTON — 16

THE model who is famous for those VW Golf adverts knew Simon Cowell from when they were at school together (he was a year above her).

Later, Hamilton and Cowell became lovers. She said: ‘I couldn’t read or write until I was 11. So I was called stupid and bullied by teachers. Simon was really important to me because he stopped them picking on me.’

She added: ‘He was funny and rebellious like me.’ Hamilton became one of the modelling stars of the Eighties while Cowell made his way in the music industry and then reality TV.

SIMON COWELL — 17

TOM BOWER’S biography of The X Factor boss, Sweet Revenge, says Paula Hamilton was one of a number of girls who used to hang out with Cowell after school.

However the book, with which he co-operated, says he lost his virginity at 17 to Debbie Spears, his first serious girlfriend, whom he fell in love with. The affair ended after 18 months when he caught her kissing a tutor at a party.

NEIL MORRISSEY — 17

THE Men Behaving Badly star, 55, lost his virginity to his sixthform college girlfriend.

He said: ‘I was 17, with Janet Evans. We were at sixth-form college and we took the day off and went to her house when her parents were out. It was awful. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing.’ She was also his first kiss — aged 13. He said: ‘I think a bottle of cider had a lot to do with it.’

LIZ HURLEY — 18

DURING her rebellious teens, Army major’s daughter Hurley dated a fellow punk known as Septic — real name Anthony Allcock. But her heart belonged to Thomas Arklie, a 23-year-old just back from

naval service in the Falklands.

Arklie later recalled making love on a train to London and getting so carried away they failed to notice the train had pulled into a station.

CAROL DRINKWATER — 19

THE actress and writer, famous for playing Helen Herriot in the TV adaptation of All Creatures Great And Small, had a ‘horrible’ experience in her late teens.

She said: ‘It was ghastly beyond words. It was very traumatic and all came as a bit of a shock. I really didn’t know what to expect. I was 19, which was quite late, and I was working backstage at the National Theatre until I went to drama school. I was extremely plump and word must have got round that I was still a virgin.

‘It was a one-night stand and happened at a New Year’s Eve party. It put me off sex for about two years.’

CELINE DION — 20

THE Canadian singer’s first boyfriend was her manager, Rene Angelil — who had championed her talent from the age of 12. They first met after he was sent a tape of her singing, and he started to manage her career, taking her and her mother on tour. Angelil mortgaged his house to finance her first album in 1981.

They began a romance when she was 18 — and he was 44. She recalled him saying to her: ‘If you really want to, I’ll be the first.’ And she answered: ‘You’ll be the first. And the only.’

They were married in 1994 and had three children.

CHRIS MARTIN — 22

THE Coldplay singer, whose parents are committed Christians, did not lose his virginity until he had graduated from University College, London, and had formed the band.

He said: ‘There were religious issues ... also confidence. I had a tricky time with girls.’

He had just one serious girlfriend, who he has never named, but was Green Eyes on the 2002 album A Rush of Blood To The Head.

Within two years he met his future wife, Oscar-winning Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

BROOKE SHIELDS — 22

AGED 12, she played a child prostitute in Louis Malle’s film Pretty Baby, and at 15 she starred in The Blue Lagoon about teenage lovers on a desert island. By the age of 16 she was also a famous fashion model, yet in her private life she was actually rather more discreet.

Only once she had left showbusiness to attend Ivy League Princeton University did she lose her virginity, to student Dean Cain, later famous in The New Adventures Of Superman TV series.

Cain said: ‘It was a big thing in her life. America’s virgin, it’s a big deal and she felt the weight of the world . . . That was one of the things that was very tough for her.’

SHEILA HANCOCK — 21

THE veteran actress lost her virginity at 21 to husband Alec Ross on their wedding night in 1954. She remembered that he hadn’t wanted to leave the wedding party, and also had failed to arrange a honeymoon.

‘I lost my virginity in a gloomy room overlooking the dustbins in the back of the Strand Palace Hotel,’ she said. They remained married until his death in 1971.

In 1973, she married John Thaw, future star of Inspector Morse.

JIMMY CARR — 26

THE comedian, 44, told Kirsty Young on Desert Island Discs that he was a late bloomer.

He said: ‘Yeah, late to sex, very late to sex. I quite like talking about that, though, because I really remember being a teenager and thinking: “I’m not normal, I’m weird.”’

Asked why he was relatively old, he said: ‘Maybe religion playing into it and not meeting the right person. I think I was a little bit repressed, I’m a late developer and I’m OK with that.’

KATIE HOLMES — 26

DAWSON’S Creek and Batman Begins actress Holmes talked about having taken the pledge to remain a virgin until she was married. She met Tom Cruise in 2004, when she was 26, and was swept up in a whirlwind romance. The couple got engaged in Paris in June 2004 and daughter Suri was born in April 2006. Holmes and Cruise were married later that year and she filed for divorce in 2012.

ANN WIDDECOMBE — virgin

FORMER British Conservative minister Widdecombe dated fellow student Colin Maltby while at Oxford, but they never married and she remains a virgin at 70.

The runner-up in this year’s Celebrity Big Brother told viewers of the TV reality show that he was the love of her life, and she regretted the end of the romance.

Widdecombe has not married or had children.

On Strictly Come Dancing in 2010, she refused to execute any sexy moves, later telling an interviewer: ‘I said right at the start, I am not doing anything I consider immodest.

‘I was worried about the suggestive nature of some of the dances but I made it very clear to the BBC that I would not be doing that.

‘My view is: “What I wouldn’t show the Pope, I won’t show the audience.” ’
