Is there a doctor on the house?

- By Alison O’Reilly

SARAH Shanahan is taking the snow in her stride – literally.

The medical student posted a dramatic image of herself on top of an almost roof-height mountain of the white stuff in Ballyfolan, Co. Wicklow where there is no access to her area.

Speaking to RTÉ’s Liveline yesterday she said: ‘It’s certainly picturesque and bright. There is a huge amount of it. It is at my hall door. It’s only about a metre or a metre and a half in some places, but the drifts do push it up too.

‘I’m not really sure what we’re going to do when it thaws. Hopefully because the house is

high enough up it will drain down the driveway. There are three cars underneath that, you can’t see them.’

Sarah, who also works in the Order of Malta, offered her services to her local community if anyone had a medical emergency, saying she was willing to walk to anyone in the area who needed help.

And she has been good to her word, offering her services to Paula and Pat Fox in Kilbride Co. Wicklow who were stranded in the snow.
