Joyce: ‘We won’t take UAE lightly’

-

IRELAND still have qualification for the Cricket World Cup in their own hands but the squad know that, after Saturday’s 52-run defeat by West Indies, they will probably have to win their next four games, starting against UAE in Harare today. Victory will confirm their progress to the Super Six stage and having won all five one-day internationals between the teams, it should be Ireland’s easiest game but Ed Joyce is taking nothing for granted. ‘We certainly go into the game with confidence but as the competition has shown, pretty much in every game there has been opportunities for every team to win so we certainly won’t be taking the game lightly,’ said Joyce. Barry McCarthy is set to return in place of either Gary Wilson or George Dockrell.
