Why GOT star Emilia is the equal of any man
WESTEROS has no shortage of strong female leaders – and it’s the same behind the camera too. Emilia Clarke, right, has said she has always enjoyed pay parity with her male Game Of Thrones co-stars. The 31-year-old was speaking at Kering Women in Motion at the Cannes Film Festival where her latest film Solo: A Star Wars Story is screening. ‘On Game of Thrones, I have always been paid the same amount as my male costars,’ she said. ‘It was my first job and I was not discriminated against because I was a woman in my pay cheque.’ She said some of the recent revelations of pay inequality – such as Claire Foy being paid much less than Matt Smith on Netflix’s The Crown – were ‘shocking, actually shocking,’ Variety reported.
