Man freed over death of OAP
A MAN arrested in connection with the death of a pensioner, who was found in a pool of blood in the hallway of his home, has been released without charge.
Joe O’Callaghan, 66, from Douglas, Cork, is believed to have sustained severe head injuries following an alleged altercation at his one-bed house. The father of three was found by his Zimbabwean-born wife, Angeline, at around 8am on Monday.
A 21-year-old man, believed to have been known to Mr O’Callaghan, was released yesterday after he had voluntarily presented himself to the authorities. A file will be prepared for the DPP.
