ENABLE WILL BE TESTED

- By SAM TURNER

ENABLE could be in line for two enthralling showdowns with illustrious stablemates as trainer John Gosden looks to step up the training programme of last season’s impressive Prix l’Arc de Triomphe heroine.

A five-time Group 1 winner as a three-year-old, Enable’s season was derailed in the spring when she sustained a knee problem while being prepared for the Coronation Cup at Epsom.

Speaking yesterday, Gosden revealed his star filly is ready to increase her workload in line for a return to action at York next month where she may take on Saturday’s brave Coral-Eclipse winner and fellow Clarehaven Stables compatriot Roaring Lion.

He said: ‘I’m thrilled with Enable at the moment and her enthusiasm for racing isbubbling out of her.

‘The ability is very much still there and I will build her up to half speed [canters] soon.

‘The plan is still to get her back for York and we will be looking at the Juddmonte International or the Yorkshire Oaks for her.

‘The Juddmonte looks the natural place to go with Roaring Lion and if both sets of owners want to run then I have no qualms about running both.

‘I hope we get into that position, it will be exciting if we do.

‘It will also be great if we can get Cracksman and Enable to the Arc to tackle each other — that is very much still the plan,’ said Gosden, who also reported that Roaring Lion is ‘in good order.’
