As the nights draw in, the Wild Lights are at play...

DUBLIN Zoo goes from wildlife to Wild Lights this week when colourful illuminations will adorn the popular attraction from Thursday.

Hammerhead sharks, blue whales and sea horses will light up the zoo as part of the display which is open until January 6.

Separately, a Winter Wonderland will feature the zoo’s polar bears and walruses as well as a Christmas market, while a Celebrating China exhibition will bring an array of Asian foods.

In November, the event will open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening – while in December and January it will be open every evening.

A Dublin Zoo spokesman said: ‘Traditional Chinese performers will wow the crowds, who can also browse the newly extended craft market for Christmas gifts and enjoy a delicious array of Asian foods.

‘In addition to Ocean of Light, three new areas feature in this year’s enchanting experience – Winter Wonderland, home to Arctic favourites such as polar bears and walruses; Celebrating China, bringing a flavour of the Orient; and The North Pole, home to Santa’s workshop, a dazzling 16metre-high silk Christmas tree, and a host of festive displays.’
