How jogging can keep your eyesight on track

-

RUNNING could save your eyesight, suggests a study by Iowa State University and the University of South Carolina.

The US researchers analysed data from more than 9,500 people between the ages of 40 and 81.

Participants had their aerobic fitness (the body’s ability to transport and use oxygen — a measure of physical fitness) assessed using treadmill tests and were then monitored for six years.

Those who were the most active and the fittest had only half the risk of developing glaucoma (where fluid is unable to drain from the eye and pressure builds up, impairing sight), compared to the least active, less fit group.
