32 years on, Tom cruises (with new vroom mate) for Top Gun sequel
IT’S hard to believe that 32 years have passed since he hunkered down on a bike with a glamorous woman holding on.
This is Tom Cruise recreating the famous image from his 1986 movie Top Gun for its hotly awaited sequel.
The ultrabright smile, black hair and Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses are all in place as Cruise, 56, returns to the role he first played at 24.
The actor rode with new co-star Jennifer Connelly, 47, as he reprised his role as Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell.
He filmed a nearly identical scene with Kelly McGillis, who played Top Gun instructor and on-screen love interest Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Blackwood, back in 1986.
The new film, Top Gun: Maverick, will feature Val Kilmer as Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky. But Ms McGillis, now 61, will not return.
The film is due for release in 2020. Cruise said: ‘Stylistically it’ll be the same. We’ll have big, fast machines... it’s going to be a competition film like the first one... but a progression for Maverick.’
