€4.6m cocaine haul at port

COCAINE with an estimated street value of €4.6million was seized at Rosslare Port yesterday.

The discovery was made by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime bureau and Revenue Customs thanks to the efforts of a detector dog and a mobile X-ray scanner.

Authorities uncovered approximately 66kg of the drug during a search of inbound freight from Europe.

No arrests have been made in relation to the seizure but gardaí said enquiries are ongoing.

They believe the drugs were intended for the Irish market.
