I thought we’d blown title, admits Bernardo

BERNARDO SILVA has promised Manchester City will capitalise on an unexpected second chance after admitting he felt they had ‘lost’ the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s side reclaimed top spot from Liverpool for the first time in 52 days with a 2-0 win at Everton on Wednesday and Bernardo believes the momentum is now with the champions. The buoyant mood of the players as they left Goodison Park was in stark contrast to how they felt after losing 2-1 at Newcastle 10 days ago. Bernardo said: ‘A few days ago we thought we had lost the Premier League. Now we are top, even if it because we have played one game more. It is good to be back in the race. ‘After Newcastle it was very tough on us. The players, the staff, we were all very sad because we all thought we had lost the league in that game. ‘Now, it is a big boost for us and we will do our best to win all our games. That is the most important thing. We are still the champions and we know what we have to do to win it.’ City are looking to strengthen their ties with China by agreeing a tour to Asia. They are expected to play at least three matches there in July, with a possible fourth game in Japan. Chinese consortium CMC owns 13 per cent of City after a £265million investment.
