Richard Gere: I’ll be a hands-on dad at 69

RICHARD Gere has promised to be a ‘hands-on dad’ – as he is poised to become a father again at 69. The actor, pictured, is having a child with third wife Alejandra Silva, 35, nearly two decades after his son was born. He told the Sunday Times Magazine he was using his Buddhist beliefs to keep calm ahead of the birth, expected any day. Asked if he was going to be hands-on, he said: ‘Oh yes, I’m there. I get up at 4.30-5am to work on my mind. I was fortunate early on that I was able to find Buddhism and find great teachers.’ The Pretty Woman star has son Homer, 19, who he shares with ex-wife Carey Lowell. ‘He’s very sweet, very sensitive, very smart’, he said of his son, who lives with him and his wife in upstate New York. His first wife was supermodel Cindy Crawford but they split in 1995 after four years.
