CROZZ BUZZ

-

It was less than 10 years ago that I heard a Volkswagen executive profess that the company wasn’t interested in building electric cars in large volumes. That was then. Now, like Volvo, VW has declared it wants to have sold a million pure electric cars by 2025. Work has already started with the unveiling of the I.D. in Paris last year, the I.D.BUZZ at Detroit earlier this year and, at the Shanghai show, the wraps came off the oddly named I.D.CROZZ crossover, or CUV as VW calls it. Powered by a combined 225kw of electric motors the I.D.CROZZ has a top speed of 110mph and a range of 320 miles on a single charge. By pressing the VW logo in the centre of the steering wheel the car will switch itself into auto pilot mode and do the driving itself. Volkswagen says it will have a production version of the I.D.CROZZ on sale by 2020.
