Man City pay match tribute to tragic fan
MANCHESTER City is to pay tribute to an Irish supporter who died after attending last week’s game. Jerome Mcareavey, 73, suffered a heart attack following his side’s 5-0 win against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium. His friends from Gilford MCSC Lurgan, Co Armagh, said the grandad will feature in City’s match programme for the Crystal Palace game next week. Chairman Ian Uprichard was with the dad of four when he collapsed on Saturday. He said: “It’s been an awful week. Jerome was a wonderful gentleman and very well thought of within the community.” The widower was laid to rest following Requiem Mass at St Peter’s Church in Lurgan yesterday.
