Man City pay match trib­ute to tragic fan

MANCH­ESTER City is to pay trib­ute to an Ir­ish sup­porter who died af­ter at­tend­ing last week’s game. Jerome Mca­reavey, 73, suf­fered a heart at­tack fol­low­ing his side’s 5-0 win against Liver­pool at the Eti­had Sta­dium. His friends from Gil­ford MCSC Lur­gan, Co Ar­magh, said the grandad will fea­ture in City’s match pro­gramme for the Crys­tal Palace game next week. Chair­man Ian Uprichard was with the dad of four when he col­lapsed on Satur­day. He said: “It’s been an aw­ful week. Jerome was a won­der­ful gen­tle­man and very well thought of within the com­mu­nity.” The wid­ower was laid to rest fol­low­ing Re­quiem Mass at St Pe­ter’s Church in Lur­gan yes­ter­day.
