THE Government must stop dragging its feet on planned new laws to give workers on “if & when” contracts more certainty over their hours.

In 2015, I published research and recommendations designed to reform precarious work and uncertain hours.

It appals me to see so many hardworking people going to bed on a Sunday not knowing how many hours they will work that week.

We have been told repeatedly reforms are on the way, yet all we see is delay. Improvements are welcome but I predict Fine Gael will only go as far as the employer bodies are prepared to allow.

We endorse Mandate’s Secure Hours = Better Future and back the calls for laws that will ensure a threshold of decency in workplaces.
