A MOTHER who found a bunch of old Lotto tickets lying around her house ended up scooping €193,300.

And when she put some of her winnings on a horse race the following day her mount romped home.

The ecstatic Waterford punter got the early Christmas present after taking the slips to her local Tesco in Kilbarry.

And she said her family didn’t believe her when she broke the amazing news.

As she picked up her cheque at National Lottery HQ in Dublin yesterday, she said: “I had a bundle and decided to get it checked when doing my shop.

“The girl behind pulled me aside and she whispered that I won big. It was another job entirely convincing my family we had won.

“They were sure I was having a senior citizen moment so they all had to check for themselves. The day after we put a few bob on a horse and myself and my husband were with our next-door neighbour watching the race.

“Lo and behold it came in first and my husband with his big mouth blurted out we had another reason to celebrate. Our neighbour joked we must have won the Lotto and we fell about the place laughing – there was no point in denying it then.” Asked about the family’s plans, she said: “It’s a lovely amount to win and even better to share with the family.

“It will give myself and my husband a lot of comfort.

“Our children are only starting out and I’m sure the money will be well used for house deposits and cars.”
