LUGE v HUGE Ostersund.. formed five weeks AFTER Arsene joined the Gunners
BRIT-ABROAD Curtis Edwards admits even he can’t get his head around how Ostersund have taken Europe by storm to earn a last-32 tie against Arsenal.
The Swedish side’s fairytale journey – from the fourth tier to the Europa League, under English boss Graham Potter – has captured the imagination.
Midfielder Edwards helped the club win their first-ever trophy in April 2017 – the Swedish Cup – to qualify.
They then dumped out Galatasaray, PAOK Salonika in qualifying and beat Hertha Berlin in the group stages.
Edwards said: “Graham always gives us belief and the right tactics.”
Ostersund were formed in October 1996 – incredibly, five weeks after Arsene Wenger was appointed Gunners boss.
And Potter (below) agreed the tie was similar to the FA Cup third round, saying: “Absolutely.
But in the third round of the FA Cup, you have not beaten Galatasaray or
PAOK or Hertha Berlin.
