Home sweet home

-

A TOTAL of 21 entrants will vie for the Home of the Year title, with three different properties featured each week.

Episode two features two houses in Dublin plus one in Waterford.

Architect Niall Henry lives with his wife Emma and their three children in a contemporary home he designed on a narrow site in the capital. Large windows were fitted throughout the ground floor of their open plan living area.

We also meet writer Donal Nugent and his partner Arnaud Sichaumette who live in an Edwardian home in the city.

The house was in a good condition when they bought it, however, they wanted to build on its potential and embellish the decorative style. The couple worked hard to create a luxurious home in a cost effective way.

The third house is owned by artist Brenda Harris and husband David who built their seaside bungalow in Co Waterford in 2006.

The home is mainly decorated in neutral shades with colours brought in through throws, cushions, and mainly Brenda’s own artwork. It has a Hamptons feel to it.

The couple sourced solid oak floors from a salvage yard, antique pieces which belonged to Brenda’s grandmother and mother, and she has upcycled a few items too.
