Caroline swats bugs Flying ants blighted games AN invasion of flying ants has Caroline Wozniacki at break point at Wimbledon yesterday.

The Danish star, seeded No 2, was irritated by the bugs during her shock second round defeat to Russia’s Ekaterina Makarova.

Caroline, 27, wanted insect spray to try to fend them off and urged the umpire to contact officials to get something done.

She was heard saying: “You want to focus on playing tennis and not eating bugs.”

A Wimbledon statement said the ants were on their “nuptial flight”, or mating ritual, adding: “According to the Zoological Society of London, typically they appear at the end of the month, however they have appeared earlier this year.”

But the swarm did not appear to be bugging stars out to enjoy the action in South West London.

The famous faces included TV presenter Melanie Sykes,
