WE STILL AIN’T KANE

ADMIT it – no matter how hard you try, you’re still not completely comfortable when England win a World Cup game.

Maybe buried in the recesses of the Irish consciousness there is a code programmed to kick in if we even begin to give credit where it is due to the old enemy.

That shouldn’t be the way as the current team is made up of decent chaps who are as good, if not better, than any side in the competition.

But the jingoism that often follows England was seen on the front page of one UK newspaper, which made a play on “Go Kane”, left, and “cocaine” before the Colombia tie. Still, for those who just can’t help themselves, England’s win gives them another chance to see them lose.
