Alcohol-free festival holds 10th birthday

UP to 2,000 teenagers will gather for an alcohol-free festival today.

The Foroige 10th anniversary event is taking place at Lacken Strand in Co Mayo.

Foroige chief Sean Campbell said: “This festival, which brings together amazing acts like The Frank & Walters, Le Galaxie and much more, is a testament to what can be achieved through strong community spirit.

“For 10 years now Band On The Strand has allowed young people to socialise, have fun and enjoy music in an unbelievable setting.

“It’s about encouraging them to act responsibly in their lives.”
